The California Sweetpotato Council is a voluntary membership organization founded in 1977. Our main objective is to develop policies and programs that enhance the sweetpotato industry in California.
If that’s your objective as well—whether you’re a sweetpotato grower, shipper, processor, or just someone who’s interested in helping to foster and promote our industry—we’d would love to have you!

Grower membership includes
Licensing for patented sweetpotato varieties and access to new varieties—without a membership the cost of an individual license is $2,500
UC Extension research—Council membership gives you access to, and partially funds, important industry development, including research into herbicides, pesticides, growing techniques, and yield maximization, plus plant and irrigation trials
Clean Plant Program at Foundation Plant Service—the Council funds, manages, maintains, and provides access to clean, virus-free tested seed
Government lobbying—representation for issues including labor laws, water, food safety, sustainability, and regulation
US Sweet Potato Council Membership—supporting the industry as a whole and providing representation for sweetpotato exports
Consumer marketing—your brand benefits from our efforts, plus you can use our marketing assets for your own promotion
